From the recording Called to Serve

As with another song on this CD, I was a music minister at St. Pius X and was asked to write a song for the 40th Jubilee celebration of Msgr. Liam Brosnan. While the song I wrote for Msgr. Martin was inspired by my dad and uncle, this song was inspired solely by the ministry of Msgr. Brosnan. I was honored to write it and to share it at his 40th Jubilee and at his retirement celebration.

Lyrics

In a time long ago, a land far away
A voice heard in the wind
Carry My cross, carry My word,
Carry My people back, to live with Me
Sometimes you will laugh, sometimes you will cry
Sometimes feel all alone
Just trust in My word, trust in My truth
Trust in the love I have and then you'll know
That I will lead you, I will show you the way
For I have called you, I have called you by name
I have called you
Called to serve, called to lead
Called to live what you believe
A voice of hope, a voice of peace
A voice in the wind, called to serve
A journey begins with one tiny step
And then you're on your way
What lies ahead what tomorrow will bring
The journey holds the key, so don't look back
Day after day, and year after year
My strength will hold you in the palm of My hand
I will hold you
Called to serve, called to lead
Called to live what you believe
A voice of hope, a voice of peace
A voice in the wind called to serve
Now I will lead you
Yes I will show you the way
I have called you, I have called you by name
I have called you
Called to serve, called to lead
Called to live what you believe
A voice of hope, a voice of peace
A voice in the wind
I hear your voice in the wind
Yes it's your voice in the wind
Called to serve
You've been called to serve
Yes you've been called to serve
You've been called to serve
