From the recording The Road That Leads to Peace

This song was influenced by two very, very different people who were searching for the same thing.
The first was a young man I knew who came from a very affluent family. He had all the material possessions and all the opportunities for success anyone could want. His family attended Mass every Sunday yet it seemed that this young person did not really know Jesus.
The second was a young man I knew who came from the ghetto. He had pretty much no material possessions and very limited opportunities. I don't know if he attended church services on a regular basis or not, but I know he believed in God.
They were both looking for a sense of peace in their lives. The first had "everything", yet sensed he was missing something. The second had "nothing", yet sensed there was something "out there" for him. What they both were looking for was the Jesus who could fill the empty place in their hearts.
Thinking about these two people from very different circumstances, yet seeking the same thing, led to this song.
It was recorded "live in studio" at Edit Point Studios in San Antonio. As a matter of fact, at the very start of the song you can hear the recording engineer, Donnie Meals, saying "Go" through the monitor speakers. We decided to leave that in the recording. The song was produced by Chris Taylor and he added the haunting "Carry my soul down the long dark road" part and he and Chris Dodds are singing the background vocals there. Sweet.

Lyrics

Where is the faith, where is the hope?Where is the love I've never known?Where is the light in the night?Where can I find peace of mind?
Searching for meaning, wanting to knowWanting to find You but where did You go?When all I want is all I needAnd all I need is to see, help me see
That there's a road that leads to peaceThat there's a road that leads to peace
Well if I should stumble and lose my wayWould you take me inOr would you turn me away?
And if cry, if I dieTell me, who would care,Who would dare, would anybody dare
To show me the road that leads to peaceJust show me the road that leads to peaceMy soul is begging, begging to be freeSo won't you help me
Carry my soul down the long, dark roadCarry my soul down the long, dark roadCarry my soul down the long, dark roadCarry my soul down the long, dark road...
