  1. I Want to See

From the recording I Want to See

In the Fall of 2009 I was in Phoenix on a concert tour when I received an e-mail from the Steering Committee of the 2010 San Antonio Catholic Men's Conference, asking if I'd be interested in, and available for, leading the music for the conference. I checked my calendar and accepted the invitation but also asked if there was a "theme" for the conference. I was told it was "Master, I Want to See". It is based on the Gospel reading where the blind Bartimaeus cried out to Jesus, telling Him he wanted to see, even though the other men around Bartimaeus were trying to get him to shut up.
I got one of my guitars out and sat on the bed in the hotel and immediately had the chorus of the song. The verses came after some time of reflection on the particular Scripture story. I sent a scratch demo to David C. Smith at ICON Music Studio in Ft. Wayne, IN, and he put together the music tracks. I recorded the vocals with Casey Jones at Insulin Studio in San Antonio. It was quite an honor to share this song with the men at the conference.

Lyrics

Walking on this road, this lonely highway
No one seems to know what I see
A world that keeps on telling me,
"Be silent; don't speak!"
I want to see, Master, I want to see
Open my eyes, open my heart
I want to see
I cry out to be heard above the voices
A very simple word from my heart
Have pity on me Lord and heal
This blindness inside of me
I want to see, Master, I want to see
Open my eyes, open my heart
I want to see
And deep into the night
I can hear your voice, Lord
So take the darkness away from me
I want to see, Master, I want to see
Open my eyes, open my heart
I want to see
I want to see, Master, I want to see
Open my eyes, open my heart
I want to see
Open my eyes, open my heart, I want to see
